Hi, welcome to the Video streaming quality testing application testing family
You will be required to install a special testing Android application on your mobile phone or tablet that will allow you to watch a 2 minute video clip (a campfire by a river) being streamed over the Internet. This application is only for Android based devices, it does not support Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, etc).
The test application will analyze the video streaming performance and automatically report back the results to a central server. This is a video streaming performance testing application that is currently under development. It will help analyze the efficiency of your internet connection to playback Internet video at various speed and quality.
Your Android device must be configured to accept the installation of 3rd party applications (usually this is found in the Settings, under Security option, and is called "unknown sources". This is only because the application is not made available through the Google App store at this time, it's still in testing and development.
You should also perform this test while on WIFI, if you don't want to incur any data charges from your wireless provider. You should turn on Location/GPS if possible (it is optional) as well for the duration of the test.
Once the application is launched, you'll see a "Start" button at the bottom of the screen, upon selecting it this should automatically launch the video playback once selected (may take a few seconds depending on the quality of your Internet connection). you'll see a small circular timer under the video playback that will provide the automatic countdown of 120 seconds to 0 (2 minutes). The video will stop automatically after the 2 minutes countdown.
During playback of the video you can optionally (it is recommended) use the "Stars" at the bottom of the screen to rate how well the video is streaming (is the quality good, is there execessive buffering or video glitches). 5 star is good, 0 star would indicate a complete failure of the video to even playback.
The app can be uninstalled at any time after the test is completed.
